Information Dynamics in Hierarchical Organizational Networks

In our research we combine the traditional social network analysis with agent-based interactions to tackle dynamic and emergent socio-technological complexity in organizations. Currently we are focusing on the role of information dynamics in learning and innovation of hierarchical and networked organizations (such as EDGE organizations). The flow of diverse types of information across a variety of hierarchical social networks and its heterogeneous reprocessing by various nodes shapes many aspects of complex social and organizational dynamics, including organizational learning and innovation. We study the interactions between information flow and processing and the cognitive dynamics within real hierarchical social networks in order to systemically link information flow to knowledge creation, learning resistance, information overflow, selective information processing and innovation.
