Estimating the significance of literature-derived biological networks

There has been a great deal of interest recently in the problem of inferring gene regulatory networks from different sources of genomic data. We consider the slightly different problem: assessing the significance of networks derived from literature mining using the popular Pathway Analysis software package, Ingenuity. We use a variety of bootstrap tests to estimate the reliability of literature-derived networks and estimate their concordance with microarray time series data that we have produced to study the mouse hair cycle.
